I bought the E3000 router as an upgrade to my old Linksys cable gateway and want to use the USB port for a network hard drive storage. I bought a Western Digital 1.5TB MyBook Essential HD and hooked it to the E3000 via the USB port and was able to see and access it from my various computers, running Windows XP and Windows 7. Initial Flash from Linksys firmware: READ the Peacock Announcement carefully! Disconnect all cables and wireless clients. Do a hard reset. my E3000 was on Kong's 22000 , i did a reset and i flashed to dd-wrt.v24-31690_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-e3000 directly, without going through multiple flashes of 21676. YMMV, use at your own risk, worked fine for me.
